More efficient Work from anywhere and predictable IT Costs thanks to Cloud Migration
The Association for the Certification of Persons in Management (VZPM) carries out certification in project management according to the specifications of IPMA®. Through these internationally recognized certification in project management, holders can demonstrate appropriate competencies in project, program and portfolio management, both in theory and in practice – regardless of whether they work in the private sector, public administration or as independent contractors. In addition to the board and expert committees, the association employs 10 people. By the end of 2020, a total of 22’860 initial certificates had been awarded and 3’272 certificates renewed in Switzerland.
Initial Situation
The VZPM‘s business organization does not have a dedicated IT unit, which made managing the necessary hardware and software very cumbersome. Certification processes were handled via outdated database applications, which made day-to-day work time-consuming and further developments difficult. In addition, the IT infrastructure was outdated and needed to be renewed.
Solution
Workplace as a Service
The VZPM obtains the Workplace as a Service (WaaS) from isolutions and thus outsources the IT activities necessary for day-to-day business to isolutions. VZPM‘s employees can concentrate fully on their core tasks.
Digitization and automation of processes
isolutions has replaced the existing database application with a modern cloud based new development as part of an agile project called «VZPM.ZERT». The new software is individually programmed and uses numerous new technologies (such as React.js for the frontend or CosmosDB, Azure Functions and Logic Apps in the backend), for example to create new certification requests automatically. The complete application runs on the Microsoft Azure Cloud. The VZPM gains flexibility and has a protected specialist application in the cloud.
Transformation of the core business
Until now, the VZPM could only conduct certification exams on paper and on site. With the digital examination tool developed by isolutions, the examinations can be taken completely independent of location and purely digitally.
