Initial Situation

High Costs Due to Missing Billing Solutions

The electrification of corporate fleets presents companies with new challenges in billing charging costs.

AMAG identified a critical gap in the market: While fleet customers do provide their employees with charging cards for public charging stations, private charging at home had, until now, been paid out of pocket by the drivers themselves. This situation led to an undesirable side effect — employees increasingly relied on more expensive public charging stations, which in turn raised the overall operating costs for companies.

Unlike existing market solutions, which record charging data exclusively through stationary charging infrastructure, AMAG pursued a forward-looking approach: the development of a platform that obtains charging data directly from the vehicles themselves. For the first time, this innovation enables accurate tracking and billing of charging processes at shared charging stations — commonly found in multi-family residences or underground garages.

The particular challenge lay not only in the technical complexity but also in the tight timeframe of just ten weeks, as the solution was already being promoted as a USP in the sales process for fleet customers.

The implementation followed an agile, three-phase development approach that combined a fast market launch with continuous further development.

  • Within just 10 weeks, a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was developed and successfully implemented

  • In the subsequent Minimum Marketable Product (MMP) phase, additional core functionalities were integrated

  • Further development is based on direct feedback from active fleet customers as well as potential clients from the AMAG sales pipeline, ensuring a market-driven evolution
