Aligro – Data Platform for Clear Decisions and Lower Costs
At the core of the food wholesaler, which has been active since 1960, is the goal of breaking down existing data silos and providing more than 1,000 employees with a straightforward platform for data-driven decisions. A particular focus was on consolidating and simplifying reporting processes to deliver consistent, end-to-end key figures. In this way, more efficient management and a unified view of revenue, margin, and inventory across 14 locations in German- and French-speaking Switzerland will be ensured for decision-makers in the future.
Initial Situation
At Aligro, critical data had previously been spread across numerous systems – this made it hard to maintain an overview, led to duplicate information, and sometimes to conflicting reports. A consolidated, central view of the data was missing, which hindered transparency in pricing decisions and the optimization of stock levels. Existing tools were not only expensive but also offered hardly any self-service options.
The vision: a central, easily accessible data base that connects departments, paves the way for future developments – such as AI applications – and makes analysis simpler, faster, and more precise. This reduces effort, improves data quality, and allows decisions to be made on a solid, shared foundation.
Solution
In close collaboration with isolutions, a modern data platform was built on Microsoft Fabric – with a clear goal: simplicity, transparency, and future readiness. The requirements of the different business areas were taken into account from the start:
- Dashboards and reports are based on the actual needs of users – from headquarters down to individual stores.
- Each user group receives exactly the data and analyses relevant to their work.
- The data is centrally available and always up to date – thanks to automatic refresh every 15 minutes.
- Standardized report templates ensure consistent, professional presentations – understandable and reusable.
A particular focus was on developing practical analyses with direct business benefits:
- A sales cockpit enables daily analysis of sales by region – with comparisons across different time periods, such as weeks, months, or specific campaign phases.
- Article-level evaluations help identify revenue drivers, recognize high-margin products, and detect losses at an early stage.
- Stock and inventory analyses support assortment management and help avoid surpluses.
- Location-specific analyses of customer frequency and average basket size provide valuable insights into customer trends and location potential.
Aligro is increasingly taking responsibility for developing its own dashboards. isolutions supports this process with methodological know-how, best practices, and technical support – with the aim of sustainably strengthening internal data competence.
