Bialetti Use Case Training with Guides App Handling User Experience Test Field Test Integration with Microsoft Environment

In September 2020, we were allowed to unpack and try out the HoloLens 2. To gain more experience, we conducted an internal field test with the HoloLens 2 and its guides.

Bialetti Use Case

The goal of the internal tests was to get to know the functionalities of the second application, Dynamics 365 Guides. In addition, we wanted to construct a showcase from the findings that would excite our customers. To achieve our goal, we decided to create a test case around the famous Bialetti coffee mocha and create a guide on how to use the machine.

Training with Guides

Creating comprehensive and effective training with Dynamics 365 Guides is easy thanks to the intuitive no-code app. You can create multiple guides to cover your organization's training needs on different topics. The training consists of several steps that the trainee needs to follow. The guide is built step by step, adding one element at a time with one piece of information per step. This ensures that the instructions are easy for the user to follow.

Each step can include multiple elements such as text, images, videos, links, 3D parts and even power apps to create a clear and easy to follow training. Moreover, you can ask questions to ensure that the participant follows the steps correctly and learns the task successfully.

App Handling

The handling of the app on the HoloLens 2 is also designed to be simple. First, the HoloLens 2 needs an anchor that is attached to the object. This way, the holographic elements that are to guide the user through the training session can be positioned.

Within the HoloLens app, the author can place holographic models such as hands, arrows and various 3D models previously defined in the desktop app. These can be selected and then positioned, rotated and scaled as required.

To test the usability of our guide, we asked some internal employees to test our training program and brew their own coffee with the HoloLens 2. After a brief explanation of the gestures used in HoloLens 2, the guide was generally perceived as easy and intuitive to use. Thanks to their feedback, we were able to improve the guide to create the most intuitive training possible. You can see the result in the video below:
