From ChatGPT to Copilot: the next Level of AI Interaction

The Development from ChatGPT to Copilot

These days, it is essential that companies keep up with the latest developments. One area that has made significant progress in recent years is artificial intelligence (AI), particularly in the field of voice assistants.

ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, was one of the first breakthroughs that revolutionized the way humans interact with machines. With the ability to understand and respond to natural language, ChatGPT has opened the door to a new era of digital communication.

Microsoft has embraced this innovation and developed a range of products known as Copilot. These products are designed to increase efficiency and productivity by providing AI-powered assistance in various applications. Here are the main differences between the different Copilot variants.

Copilot: The versatile AI Chatbot

Copilot provides quick and easy access to an AI chatbot that answers questions, generates content and creates images. Copilot uses indexed data from Bing to access the most up-to-date information possible. Compared to ChatGPT, whose knowledge is limited to data up to a certain point in time (e.g. in 2021), Copilot offers a clear advantage here. This version is intended for individuals and is free of charge.

Copilot Pro: Powerful AI models and creative image design

Copilot Pro is the extended version of Copilot. It offers access to more powerful AI models such as GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, resulting in faster response times. Copilot Pro also enables the creation of customized Copilot GPTs. For creative professions, it is a real boon as it can generate unique images with DALL-E 3 and enhance them with Designer. This version is intended for individuals and costs 20 US dollars per user per month.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: AI assistant for more efficient workflows

Microsoft 365 Copilot aims to increase productivity in Microsoft 365 applications, documents and conversations with the help of an AI assistant. It is specially designed for companies and offers generative AI functions to facilitate work in various Microsoft 365 applications.

It requires an Azure Active Directory (AAD) account and Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses, which cost 30 US dollars per user per month.

M365 Copilot

The process is seamless and secure: a user enters a request in an application such as Word, Outlook or PowerPoint. Microsoft gathers the user's business context based on their M365 permissions. This request is sent to a large language model (such as GPT-4) to generate a response. After the response is generated, Microsoft performs responsible AI checks as part of post-processing. Finally, Microsoft generates a response and the corresponding commands that are sent back to the M365 application.

To use Copilot for Microsoft 365, customers need a license for Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard or Business Premium, Microsoft 365 E3, E5, F1, F3 or Office 365 E1, E3 or E5 - or a version of these packages without Microsoft Teams.

Copilot Studio

Copilot Studio: AI-supported business process optimization

With Copilot Studio, Microsoft is opening up a new dimension of AI-supported business process optimization. Companies can develop customized use cases that are specifically tailored to their individual needs. Copilot Studio enables the training and refinement of AI models to generate maximum benefit and a significant competitive advantage. This tool is particularly valuable for companies that want to develop unique AIv solutions to solve specific business problems and increase efficiency.

The integration of AI assistants like Copilot into business processes is not only a question of efficiency, but also of competitiveness. Companies that embrace this change can respond faster to market changes, improve customer satisfaction and offer innovative solutions that set them apart from the competition. At a time when adaptability and speed are crucial, AI assistants are an essential ingredient for success.

To benefit from such enhancements, every user who wants to use Copilot Studio needs a user license (also known as a Copilot Studio User License). This license is free of charge and enables the creation and management of Copilots. In addition, the company requires an organization license, which costs 200 US dollars per month.
